EB1A Green Card
The EB-1A Green Card, also known as the Employment-Based First Preference for individuals of extraordinary ability, is a U.S. immigrant visa category designed for people who have risen to the very top of their field in areas such as science, arts, education, business, or athletics. Unlike many employment-based green card categories, EB-1A applicants can self-petition without a job offer or labor certification if they can demonstrate sustained national or international acclaim through evidence such as major awards, published material about their work, original contributions of major significance, high salary, judging the work of others, or leading roles in distinguished organizations. Applicants must meet either a one-time major achievement standard (such as a Pulitzer, Oscar, or Olympic medal) or satisfy at least three of the regulatory criteria evaluated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which then conducts a final merits determination to assess whether the individual truly belongs among the small percentage at the top of their field.
